Use the POS without WIFI

The wireless internet was a revolutionary invention. Information could now travel from one end of the globe to the other, unencumbered in a matter of seconds. While the invention is highly appreciated it does come with some pain, as against the abundance of pleasure it provides mankind. For retailers, used to working with the cloud, the POS system is synced through the internet and information stored securely across allotted servers. Unfortunately, the industry is not free from interruptions. If you are a high-volume shop, and you were to lose Wi-Fi, then you are losing sales. A 100% cloud POS system will not work during internet downtime.

If the internet isn’t reliable, then there must be something that retailers must fall back on to keep businesses running smoothly.

POS Systems with Wi-Fi

A POS system completely based out of the cloud works only when connected to the internet. To ensure that operations flow seamlessly, you must have a backup internet connection to avoid all disruptions. If you don’t possess a backup, it only means you won’t be working offline, which, in turn, means valuable loss of customers. Focus on the hardware and infrastructure of your premises instead of gauging how you should work without Wi-Fi.

Currently, businesses either use a dongle or two different internet connections or a smartphone with a Wi-Fi hotspot to run the show in the absence of Wi-Fi. However, it is not just a lack of connectivity; it is also a weak signal reception that could disrupt your operations. While Wi-Fi boosters and extenders do work for a while, how will you make sure that your wholly cloud-based software still retains its operational capability?

Safety over Functionality

With all the above impediments, it is only prudent for retailers to choose a POS system that can work offline – even without an internet connection and reconnect once the internet is restored. OVERSEE POS allows you to even make card transactions offline where the system uses data stored to carry out the actual transaction, once the internet resumes. While OVERSEE does recommend hard-wired systems, wherever possible to avoid any service drops, we also know it is not a practical solution.

Our systems work with both flexibility and functionality mind and therefore enable offline processing as well.
